Christians: Have you upgraded to a passion-filled ticket to Heaven? Luke 12:36-48

Luke 12:36 (Living Bible) [Jesus speaking] “Be prepared- all dressed and ready—for your Lord’s return from the wedding feast. Then you will be ready to open the door and let him in the moment he arrives and knocks. 37 There will be great joy for those who are ready and waiting for his return…40 So be ready all the time. For I, the Messiah, will come when least expected… 48 Anyone who is not aware that he is doing wrong will be punished only lightly. Much is required from those to whom much is given, for their responsibility is greater.
My one-word goal for 2012 is “passion,” so I approach each day with a thankful spirit and praise for the God who loves me. You might wonder how that can be since my life isn’t exactly coming up roses right now.  People that I dearly love and who are close to my heart are either terminally or critically ill – plus I deal with other life event issues just as you do.
Perhaps the key to my passion is that the LORD permeates my life regardless of how I feel. He loves the imperfect me, and I need that. But I also respect His Holiness and I’m learning to walk that fine line of not allowing my sinful self to justify my actions or take Him for granted. It’s an amazing, thriving relationship. I keep asking myself, “How can I be so privileged to know God in such an intimate way?”
Do you know your purpose for living?
Pastor Jack Graham of PowerPointMinistries preached a sermon that helped me realize why I have such passion: It’s because even though I have a ticket to heaven, which really rocks, I’m also living life in the purpose for which I was made! I love life because I know that God made me for His purpose! I finally woke up and smelled the roses! Now I can’t get enough of a day. I’m also learning how to focus on the things that matter to God and take care of myself at the same time. I have a way to go!
Do you know the date you understood your purpose?
I hope you will find the timeline concept helpful. Pastor Jack talked about the three key dates in our earthly lives. This is my timeline:
1950’s                  1972ish                                             May 2, 2006
|__________________|____________________________|_______________
Born                     Spiritually Born Again            The day I understood why I
                                                                                           was born!

Living the life you were meant to live

We have the choice to become spiritually born again and then there’s the day you hopefully realize that you don’t just want to live life from the church pew on Sundays and you start walking in the purpose that God intended for you!

This is why I can no longer be a part of “dead” churches or involve myself in what other people think I should be doing in ministry. I can’t live a low-level Christianity anymore! Too many souls are at stake!  Instead, I’m sharing God’s love and message of salvation in the surroundings and ways that God wants. I have much more to learn and to do -- that keeps me highly motivated and on purpose!

On-purpose living isn’t a comfortable life
I’ll also make it clear that living in your purpose and passion means a fight with your flesh; it’s not comfortable all the time. But at the end of the day, I’m here to serve God using my gifts. I fail, but I get up and keep going because of the passion in my heart!
My commission is to share Jesus Christ! Jesus is my boss and I love waking up to go to work each day!
The LORD is my passion!

15 And they will say about you,
“The LORD always does right! God is our mighty rock.”

Sin on the journey

Before I know it, sin drips from my mouth and floods my mind. Oh the struggle.
Romans 7:22-23 I love to do God’s will so far as my new nature is concerned; but there is something else deep within me, in my lower nature, that is at war with my mind and wins the fight and makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. In my mind I want to be God’s willing servant, but instead I find myself still enslaved to sin. So you see how it is: my new life tells me to do right, but the old nature that is still inside me loves to sin. Oh, what a terrible predicament I’m in! Who will free me from my slavery to this deadly lower nature? Thank God! It has been done by Jesus Christ our Lord. He has set me free.
My current struggle is in not easily recognizing the extent of my sinfulness. I can easily preach it, but continuous righteous living eludes me.
Ouch. It hurts. I reveal this because I love the Lord with all my heart, mind and soul, but the sinner in me wins. It's the same struggle the A…
