Who are you going to bless?

Divine Note #31 – August 2, 20091
Thessalonians 5:18 (NLT)18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
John 14:16-18 (NLT)16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate,
who will never leave you. 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.18 No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you.
Isaiah 45:7 - I create the light and make the darkness. I send good times and bad times. I, the Lord, am the one who does these things.
Isaiah 45:19 (NLT) 19 I publicly proclaim bold promises. I do not whisper obscurities in some dark corner. I would not have told the people of Israel
to seek me if I could not be found. I, the Lord, speak only what is true and declare only what is right.
Isaiah 46:3-4 (NIV) One of my favorites!3 "Listen to me, O house of Jacob, all you who remain of the house of Israel,
you whom I have upheld since you were conceived, and have carried since your birth.
4 Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.
Isaiah 50:4-11 (NLT)The Lord’s Obedient Servant 4 The Sovereign Lord has given me his words of wisdom, so that I know how to comfort the weary. Morning by morning he wakens me and opens my understanding to his will. 5 The Sovereign Lord has spoken to me, and I have listened. I have not rebelled or turned away.

Dear Readers of Divine Notes,
If you are not reading God’s inspired Word, The Holy Bible, each day of your life, you are missing out on daily blessings! I encourage you to find a version of the Bible that speaks to your heart and read it each day! Go online and try different versions until you find one that works for you. I purchased a one-year chronological Bible in the New Living Translation and it has taken my relationship to my great God to a deeper level because I also made a commitment to read it every day! I also use other resources to help me understand historical context. I urge everyone to read the Bible each day of your life! It’s food and light for your soul!

Life in my shoes has been tough over the past couple of months. You may not be dealing with things right now but when you are in a valley, save this message for encouragement. My spiritual gift from God is encouragement, but today I didn’t feel like encouraging anyone. I really wanted to throw myself a pity party, but the Lord woke me up early this morning to prepare for an important meeting with my amazing team. Sunday school was awesome and I heard Beth Moore’s message on our study of the book of Esther quite clearly: Our destiny is not to be autonomous. Whatever God assigns you to do; you must do it along with others.
We had a powerful church service – our pastor was on target with his message about how we are the body of Christ today! When we help those who are hurting, those who are ill, and those who need help – we become like Jesus Christ when He walked on Earth! But the bottom line is that we are a group of “human beings” who have asked and received forgiveness and, thus, salvation. That doesn’t mean we’re a perfect bunch! In fact, many churches are composed of well-meaning people who alienate others and they don’t communicate effectively about the love, kindness and tenderness of Jesus Christ! But when you don’t go to church and hang out with other believers, you don’t get the encouragement Christ wants you to have!

After church I had a wonderful meeting with my leadership team about our upcoming event. We enjoyed lunch and I believe we were all encouraged to step out of our comfort zones to share Christ with those around us. Since my testimony is my ministry and I encourage authentic relationships, I shared with the ladies the challenge I am facing. God blessed me in a huge way through their love and personal prayers. Afterwards, I dealt with my challenge but I didn’t do a good job at resolving the issue. So when I returned home, I didn’t think I could write a Divine Note because I felt discouraged. But God always has other plans...

I’ve said that one of the ways I listen to God is by writing down His messages. During the week I jotted down the Scriptures that were used in this note as I read through my new Bible each day. Today, as I read the Scriptures together, I realized that I am God’s daughter and that the Holy Spirit is here with me, that God is powerful and that He will not leave me especially when I get old, and that if I seek Him, I WILL FIND HIM!

Oh Beloved Father,
As I sit here weeping because I’ve just realized how you speak directly to me through your Word, I’m in awe of your love, majesty and power! Thank you that you’ve opened up the Scriptures to me – Your not-so-perfect daughter! You know my heart and you know my struggles! Please forgive my hardened heart and help me to be a better daughter! Please oh God, don’t ever let me not use my spiritual gifts even when I’m in the middle of dealing with my own issues. Let me be obedient dear Father because the things I deal with are not bigger than anyone else’s struggles! Don’t allow me to be selfish! Help me be effective in my ministry to encourage those you put in my path and especially those who don’t believe You exist. Thank you for touching my life and transforming it in a huge way. I appreciate you F-a-t-h-e-r! I can hardly wait for eternity!Meanwhile, please help me fulfill Your purpose for me in a big God-Hug-kind of way!Love you Lord!
Who are you going to bless? So dear readers, give it up to God! If you seek Him, you will find Him! When you accept His free gift of grace (which is unmerited love) – a whole new world opens up to you. Sure – I still have to deal with my issues. But I have that peace and that “realness” to my life that I would never trade for anything! Get to a Bible-based church and set up your own community of people who love you because they know God’s love! Decide to get real with God today by asking Him to forgive you and grant you the gift of living with Him when your time is up on Earth. Please send this e-mail to anyone you know who needs encouragement! Remember you only have today! Who are you going to bless?

Big God Hugs!

When it hurts to care – Psalm 31:7

When it hurts to care – Psalm 31:7 Psalm 31:7 I will be glad and rejoice in your unfailing love, for you have seen my troubles, and you care about the anguish of my soul. One of God’s gifts to me is the ability to care about and pray for those who are ill. But right now, my mother is at the end of her life, and another key person in my life recently received bad health news. I also follow the Facebook journey of a courageous 12-year old girl, Jessie Rees ,  who suffered from two inoperable brain tumors. She passed away a few days ago. I am sad. But it’s interesting that in my sadness, I’ve come to appreciate how God works my faith steps. Before I decided that God’s purpose for me was greater than my own purpose, I had a hard time being close to people because it hurt that they might die or leave me. God opened my understanding (and healed me) so that I could come to terms with that and step into the gifts of compassion he planned for me. I started to feel that familiar hurt e

Moments with God: When all you can do is cry. Luke 7:36-40

July 7, 2013 Remember the story of the woman who poured oil over the feet of Jesus, wept and kissed him? Luke 7:36-40 The Voice Luke 7:36-40 The Voice translation  Once a Pharisee named Simon invited Jesus to be a guest for a meal. Picture this: Just as Jesus enters the man’s home and takes His place at the table, a woman from the city—notorious as a woman of ill repute—follows Him in. She has heard that Jesus will be at the Pharisee’s home, so she comes in and approaches Him, carrying an alabaster flask of perfumed oil. Then she begins to cry, she kneels down so her tears fall on Jesus’ feet, and she starts wiping His feet with her own hair. Then she actually kisses His feet, and she pours the perfumed oil on them. That's how I felt.  Yesterday I had a memorable “point in time.”  My ear tuned to a melody:  “ The King of Heaven’s Armies is right here by my side . “   Tears trickled down my cheeks unexpectedly. The Lord knows my real heart (and your rea

I am grateful that I can trust God. Psalm 56:9

Psalm 56:9 When I cry out to You, Then my enemies will turn back; This I know, because God is for me. I have learned that I must rely on God in all things – big and small. I must cry out to him when I’m dealing with life. I tend to want to handle things on my own, but I have a bad track record. I’m not good without God. We can rely on God when we know God. We can decide that God is a stranger and choose not to know him or we can get to know him so we can rely on him when the enemy approaches. The enemy will approach. Know God. Let God be on your side.
