Feed your mind with Scripture - Colossians 3:16

Colossians 3:16a
Let the word of the Anointed One richly inhabit your lives. With all wisdom teach, counsel, and instruct one another.

When I study Scripture and give it the time and reverence that it deserves, my mind is clear regardless of the circumstances. Pastors and teachers always tell us this, but it's one of those disciplines that you have to try so you can understand.

The wicked prince of the air and your own weaknesses will battle for control of your life and time. You can wage a better battle when you know the Scriptures that rebuke evil.

You can also help your children, friends and family in their time of need when you quote Scriptures that give insight to life's many twists and turns.

A friend who's very ill recently sent me a text just as I sent her a Scripture that she very much needed in the moment! That's the work of God through us.

Many times when I'm deep in study, God will answer a question I have or provide insight into a topic I've been studying. The deeper I go into Scripture and in my walk with God, the more I understand topics that I failed to grasp before. It's pretty cool.

The words from your mouth
I've found that the Holy Spirit empowers me with the right Scriptures the more I study. I still enjoy 'aha' moments when words roll off my tongue that encourage and bring comfort to others.

Don't let a day go by without searching the Scriptures. You just might learn truths that will change your life and the lives of those you know and love!

Try it today!

When it hurts to care – Psalm 31:7

When it hurts to care – Psalm 31:7
Psalm 31:7 I will be glad and rejoice in your unfailing love, for you have seen my troubles, and you care about the anguish of my soul. One of God’s gifts to me is the ability to care about and pray for those who are ill. But right now, my mother is at the end of her life, and another key person in my life recently received bad health news. I also follow the Facebook journey of a courageous 12-year old girl, Jessie Rees, who suffered from two inoperable brain tumors. She passed away a few days ago. I am sad.

But it’s interesting that in my sadness, I’ve come to appreciate how God works my faith steps. Before I decided that God’s purpose for me was greater than my own purpose, I had a hard time being close to people because it hurt that they might die or leave me. God opened my understanding (and healed me) so that I could come to terms with that and step into the gifts of compassion he planned for me. I started to feel that familiar hurt earlier this we…

Scripture: Psalm 92:12-15

12 Good people will prosper

13 They will take root
in your house, LORD God,
    and they will do well.
14 They will be like trees
that stay healthy and fruitful,
    even when they are old.
15 And they will say about you,
“The LORD always does right! God is our mighty rock.”
