Ecclesiastes 12:8 Life is fleeting; it
just slips through your fingers. All vanishes like mist.
Every Jan. 1 we get a clean calendar and a
chance to get things done we want to do. But many don't see it as an
opportunity to leave an eternal finger print in the world.
Instead, people focus on pleasures, work,
challenges and making it from day-to-day without giving thought to their
personal bigger picture.
It's this bigger picture that drives our
quality of life when it's almost over. And, since most of us have seven to
eight healthy decades - that's not much time.
Lately, this has been burning in my mind since
I've only started setting eternal goals over the past decade.
2 Corinthians 4:17-18 You see, the short-lived pains of this life
are creating for us an eternal glory that does not compare to anything we know
here. So we do not set our sights on the things we can see
with our eyes. All of that is fleeting; it will eventually fade away. Instead,
we focus on the things we cannot see, which live on and on.
So when you are tempted to just make it through your days - remember that there's more to this life.
