Be renewed in the spirit of your mind - Ephesians 4:23 NKJV

What does it look like to be kind?
Ephesians 4:23 Living Bible Now your attitudes and thoughts must all be constantly changing for the better.
Ephesians 4:23 The Voice to take a fresh breath and to let God renew your attitude and spirit.
The dictionary defines kind as of a good or benevolent nature or disposition, as a person: a kind and loving person.
What does it look like to be kind? This sentence kicked me out of the ballpark.  As soon as the preacher said it, a knife chopped my heart in half.
I was wounded because I can wound others well.
This year I don’t want to forget the lessons learned during Lent, so I've paid close attention to a series of sermons that ask the question: If salvation comes free and we don't earn it, what does God want from me?  This week’s message was supposed to be simple, according to the preacher, but there’s nothing simple when it comes to changing old habits that we don’t think need to change.
Think about it, if you’re a Christian – one who knows …

God, I appreciate Your patience

Psalm 69:34 All God’s creation: join together in His praise! All heaven, all earth, all seas, all creatures of the ocean deep!
Early this morning as I was lamenting the thorns in my life, it occurred to me that I should praise God for His overwhelming goodness to me and for His infinite patience as I dance my sin songs.
Once my mindset changed, I could be somewhat more objective and take responsibility for the things I can change.
If those issues came to my mind perhaps it was time to check my heart and soul and to repent and confess.
Most of us know what we do wrong, but we rationalize it and almost figure out a way to ignore sin, or to blame others or to let it sit in the recesses of our minds and hearts, which ultimately causes great mental anguish.

Why do you think so many sit on psychiatric couches or indulge in things that make them more miserable?
It's not easy to write this because I struggle. But the Holy Spirit will not ease up when we walk crooked.
A believer who belon…

Can you face God? James 2:12

James 2:12 So live your life in such a way that acknowledges that one day you will be judged. But the law that judges also gives freedom,
Lately, I've been thinking about the day that I stand before a Holy God. It's a sobering thought. The Lord knows me, every single thing I've said, done or thought.
Yes. I will be judged and it's a scary, but exciting thing to imagine.

On one hand, God will know of my deep devotion and crazy love...But...
But what about the other side of me?

My sins, my struggles...the real me that's hidden from sight and sometimes from my own sight?
It's enough to paralyze me with fear.
But then I remember.
 I'm free.
Knowing God made me free.
I can change my actions.
I can make better decisions because it's His laws that protect me from myself.

Need help and hope? Psalm 145:14

Psalm 145:14 The Eternal sustains all who stumble on their way. For those who are broken down, God is near. He raises them up in hope.

The only way to have lasting, real hope is by knowing God.
Hope sometimes fails even those who know God. I often wonder how those who don't know God make it through tough, hopeless times?
Everyone living will enter hard times.
Those hard times when we are broken, when there's no way to hold it together.
Those times that come unexpectedly or that result from sin.
Those times when we can't control an outcome.
The questions:
How do we pass through deep waters without drowning?
How do we continue to live after devastation?
How do we live broken or heart-broken?
 Ask God.
If you know Him.
Only God can hold you and your life together.
Only. God. Can.
