Growing my spiritual life - 1 Peter 2:5

1 Peter 2:5 (NLT) And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What’s more, you are his holy priests.   Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God.   Several years ago I took a detour to care for a very special elderly lady on Sundays. At the time, I missed going to church and my Sunday school class. But as months passed, my time with the Lord became more personal, more intense and very special. I learned compassion and  care-giving  while taking care of my special friend, who had just lost her husband of many years. My primary role was to be her spiritual rock. We prayed. I listened. We watched birds bathe in the garden’s fountain. I decorated the family Christmas tree while she shared memories. For eight months, I learned how to care and minister. And, I grew my spiritual wings – those things that mattered to God for me. Once I had Sundays free, I realized that I could not return to a church “buildi

What if it was all about God?

Romans 12:1-2 (Msg)   So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.  This note is simply meant to get all of us to think about our daily priorities. Are we focused on God and on what He wants us to do? I believe that our lives would radically change if we asked God what we can do for Him before we talk to Him about what we need. Questions to think about: ·       Wh

I am passionate about God. 1 Peter 1:18

1 Peter 1:8   You have not seen Christ, but still you love him.  You cannot see him now, but you believe in him. So you are filled with a joy that cannot be explained, a joy full of glory.9 And you are receiving the goal of your faith—the salvation of your souls. The Lord is my consuming priority.  Sharing what he does for me is what my life is all about – it’s why I was made.  God has given me a clear purpose of my life!   I am here to encourage you to seek that love and guidance that God wants to give you, too.    Find out what God has planned for you!  No matter what you are going through, let God be with you and guide your choices!

Will you follow Jesus or follow your fear? Matthew 14:24-31

Matthew 14 (The Voice) 25 Deep in the night, when He had concluded His prayers, Jesus walked out on the water to His disciples in their boat. 26 The disciples saw a figure moving toward them and were terrified. Disciple: It’s a ghost! Another Disciple: A ghost? What will we do? Jesus: 27 Be still. It is I. You have nothing to fear. Peter: 28 Lord, if it is really You, then command me to meet You on the water. Jesus: 29 Indeed, come. Peter stepped out of the boat onto the water and began walking toward Jesus. 30 But when he remembered how strong the wind was, his courage caught in his throat and he began to sink. Peter: Master, save me! 31 Immediately Jesus reached for Peter and caught him. Jesus: O you of little faith. Why did you doubt and dance back and forth between following Me and heeding fear? Many talented people go through life like the disciples who stayed in a sinking boat even when Jesus was nearby and willing to save them – just like He saved

My 100 ways to be grateful - Philippians 4:13 I can be content in any and every situation

Philippians 4:13  I can be content in any and every situation through the Anointed One who is my power and strength.   gratitude     —  n a   feeling   of   thankfulness   or   appreciation,  as for gifts or  favours [The World English Dictionary] August 6, 2013 Gratitude is great for the soul My heart is filled with gratitude because I made it unscathed through 11 months in the valley of life. Now I’m pausing to be grateful and to remember that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13) The gratitude note cup was an idea from my Pinterest boards. Only the top 4 are in order. The first 50 entries are mostly but not all work-related since that’s where I keep the gratitude cup. My Twitter friend @Sojourner5’s #gratitude100 Twitter hashtag and  gratitude blog post  also inspired me to compile my list, today. Right now. Try it. You'll find out that gratitude is good for your soul.   My hopeful heart is
