What if it was all about God?

Romans 12:1-2 (Msg)   So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.  This note is simply meant to get all of us to think about our daily priorities. Are we focused on God and on what He wants us to do? I believe that our lives would radically change if we asked God what we can do for Him before we talk to Him about what we need. The end of the road: Everything can change in a split second

April 15, 2012 Psalm 121:8 The LORD keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever. Cars and pedestrians sometimes just don’t mix. I live and work in a large city, so I share my life with cars, trucks, buses and an assortment of other vehicles.   I cross very busy streets on foot each day without giving it a thought. Most of us who live in large, heavily congested cities never think about all that traffic, it goes with big city life which I enjoy and would never trade. J The sound of screeching tires about two feet from me recently got me to thinking: I could have been hit by a car…my life could have been over!   I had just stepped onto the pavement after crossing a major street when a car came barreling out of nowhere, and made a screeching halt just under the red light signal. This startled me – what if I had slowed my pace while crossing? I would more than likely be dead. I share this story because none of us are guaranteed a spec...

I am thankful for purposeful living. Psalm 103:14-16

Psalm 103:14-16 14 He knows what we are made of.    He remembers that we are dust. 15 Human life is like grass;    we grow like a flower in the field.  16 After the wind blows, the flower is gone,     and there is no sign of where it was. Since I have come to have an intimate relationship with the Creator of the universe, urgency exists in my soul. I have a finite amount of time to share what God has done in my life. I feel like I’m racing against time. I appreciate each day of my life. I wake up happy that I woke up! I am glad that I know my purpose and that I am here for God’s significant reason. It amazes me when people say they are bored, helpless, lost or have nothing to do. Most people go through life without personal visions, missions or without knowing why God created them. Many of us also engage in ‘busyness’ but live silently desperate lives not knowing why we were created. You are here for God’s purpose. Granted, som...

When you can’t understand life, don’t get mad at God – Psalm 119:59

11-11-11 Psalm 119:59 I pondered the direction of my life, and I turned to follow your laws. Today is Veteran’s Day in the United States. We remember, we celebrate and also thank those who are serving or who have served in the military and support organizations. It’s the perfect day to write this note that’s been developing in my spirit. People frequently ask me why I love God and have such a positive outlook. Surely I haven’t experienced tragedies or trials that make me wonder about the faithfulness of God? They think my life is perfect and that God is constantly waving his wand of blessings over me. Some of the questions I’ve been asked include: How can I be sure that God is there? Why is this happening to the one I love? God won’t forgive me for blaming him for whatever tragedy, etc. Why is this tragedy happening to me/to those I love, etc.? I’ve fallen away from God and cannot find the road back to him. God can never forgive me for the bad things I’ve done or th...

I am thankful for the book of life – Rev. 20:11-15

Revelation 20:11-15 (KJV) 11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. I smiled at the Lord when he inspired me to be thankful for the book of life and the last book of the Bible, Revelation. God knows that I feared death for the better part of my life because I was only a church-going ...
