To be in the Lord's presence Psalm 16:8

Psalm 16:8,11   I know the Lord is always with me.     I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. You will show me the way of life,     granting me the joy of your presence     and the pleasures of living with you forever. Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image and likeness.  Mark 6:31b-32a   He said to them, “Come away by yourselves, and we will go to a lonely place to get some rest.” So they went in a boat by themselves to a lonely place. Don’t let the busyness of your life get in the way of spending time knowing the heart of God who made you in His own likeness. So many of us have the best of intentions, I know I do. I want to do it all: I want to write, tweet, FaceBook, care for my family/friends/others, take care of my cats, handle my job and the ministries I’m called to do, plus I must keep up with daily responsibilities as you do. Where does this leave God in all my busynes...

A community that matters - Mark 3:13-14

Mark 3:13 Jesus called together a select group of His followers and led them up onto a mountain. 14 There He commissioned them the twelve. [Later He calls them His emissaries.] He wanted them to be with Him. He sent them out to spread the good news. Earlier this year I wrote a post about personal goals for this year, and my own words spoke to me today: “One key thing I plan to do this year is to be available frequently for those who are important to me. I need to be a more frequent and committed participant in community.” In his humanness, Jesus set the example for how we should conduct our lives. His mission included other people personally selected to help carry out the Plan.  The same is true for the rest of us. We can’t go on our own power. You and I can’t do good works without having the Holy Spirit’s guiding light. We must first go to the Lord and spend quality time knowing His heart.  We must go to Him to receive our power for the things we do ...

Encouraging Scriptures for everyone

During March I posted Scriptures each day honoring my daughter’s birthday. My sole purpose in doing this is to remind her and now you that our every need is answered by God and we see evidence of it in His word, the Bible.   Proverbs 22:6. Thanks to the ministry of  Bible Gateway  for providing online Scripture.   Jude 1:2 The Voice (VOICE) 2  Kindness, peace, love—may they never stop blooming in you and from you. Numbers 6:24-26 Living Bible (TLB) 24-26  ‘May the Lord bless and protect you; may the Lord’s face radiate with joy because of you; may he be gracious to you, show you his favor, and give you his peace.’ Psalm 139:17-18 Living Bible (TLB) 17-18  How precious it is, Lord, to realize that you are thinking about me constantly! I can’t even count how many times a day your thoughts turn toward me. [ a ]   And when I waken in the morning, you are still thinking of me! Exodus 14:14 Living Bible (TLB) ...

Oh Lord…I never want to forget that I am a mess in process! Matthew 9:13

Matthew 9 Jesus Chooses Matthew 9 As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew. He was sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” Jesus told him. Matthew got up and followed him. 10 Later Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house. Many tax collectors and “sinners” came. They ate with Jesus and his disciples. 11 The Pharisees saw this. So they asked the disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and ‘sinners’?” 12 Jesus heard that. So he said, “Those who are healthy don’t need a doctor. Sick people do. 13 Go and learn what this means, ‘I want mercy and not sacrifice.’ (Hosea 6:6) I have not come to get those who think they are right with God to follow me. I have come to get sinners to follow me.” I don’t want to forget that Jesus was about relationships with everyone he didn't distinguish between sinners and tax collectors. Andy Stanley compares tax collectors to the people who sell drugs to young kids in our d...

Joys of the healing journey: The tenderness of the Lord

December 9, 2012 Isaiah 41:10  Don’t be afraid, because I am with you. Don’t be intimidated; I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will support you with my victorious right hand. Add your own issue and it becomes your story -- ·        Injury. ·        Hospitalization. ·        Incapacitation. ·        Loss of independence. ·        Long and painful rehabilitation. It’s easy to be overwhelmed when we tumble into deep, unexpected valleys and find ourselves with interrupted lives. Why not write? The journey has been interesting for me because I  didn't  let go of the hand of God. I screamed out in pain, I never doubted God was with me through my trauma. So why did I stop blogging and writing about the journey?   I had not been able to put into words what God revealed ...

The incredible greatness of his power

Written March 21, 2012 Ephesians 1:19 (GW) You will also know the unlimited greatness of his power as it works with might and strength for us, the believers. A few days ago, I realized that God answers my most pressing questions in such a loving way so that I can understand. He reduced me to grateful tears. It was such a tender moment. It was an unexpected moment that opened my eyes to his love. I had been wrestling with a situation for a while. Those who have children understand how kids can be relentless in their pursuit of things they really want. That describes my relationship with the Lord. There are a few wishes I have that are not becoming reality. God knows my history, my desires and my gifting. He desires that I understand and accept things about myself, so that I can move on. In responding to me, He set the record straight so that I understood the benefits of his decision. I was unable to struggle because he touched the very core of who I am. You see, only God kno...

My Divine Note: The surrendered life - 1 John 4:17 (GW)

July 28, 2011 1 John 4:17 (GW) 17 God's love has reached its goal in us. So we look ahead with confidence to the day of judgment. While we are in this world, we are exactly like him {with regard to love}. When the love of my Lord Jesus Christ shook up my life, important things changed: I stopped being afraid of dying because I was afraid of God’s judgment, and I learned about unconditional love. I want to go the distance with God. I will take the sad, hard times and enjoy life at the top of the mountain while I live on earth – but I see eternity and God in his glory. While I’m on earth, I want to live the surrendered life wholly dependent on the deep and enveloping love of Christ. I also want his love to live through me. I can see Him now.
