How to stay young and youthful all your life

How to stay young and youthful all your life Word of Instruction from Dr. Charles F. Stanley These are my notes from today's broadcast . Scripture: Psalm 92:12-15 Psalm 92: 12 Good people will prosper     like palm trees,     and they will grow strong     like the cedars of Lebanon. 13 They will take root in your house, LORD God,     and they will do well. 14 They will be like trees that stay healthy and fruitful,     even when they are old. 15 And they will say about you, “The LORD always does right!  God is our mighty rock.” Keep learning – a lazy brain is a decaying brain Keep loving – don’t be bitter Keep laughing – 😊 Keep leaving your past behind – don’t live in the rear-view mirror of your life Keep longing Keep dreaming about the future – it’s a matter of attitude Keep looking your best Keep laboring and working – there’s no retirement in the Bible Keep learning, depending, and trus...

Great reasons NOT to swear

Matthew  5:33  You know that God expects us to abide by the oaths we swear and the promises we make.  Don't swear by heaven Matthew 5:34 But I tell you this: do not ever swear an oath. What is an oath? You cannot say, “I swear by heaven”—for heaven is not yours to swear by; it is God’s throne.  Don't swear by earth Matthew 5:35 And you cannot say, “I swear by this good earth,” for the earth is not yours to swear by; it is God’s footstool. And you cannot say, “I swear by the holy city Jerusalem,” for it is not yours to swear by; it is the city of God, the capital of the King of kings.  Don't swear by your own head Matthew 5:36 You cannot even say that you swear by your own head, for God has dominion over your hands, your lips, your head. It is He who determines if your hair be straight or curly, white or black; it is He who rules over even this small scrap of creation.  Instead of swearing, keep your word! Matthew 5:37 Yo...

Setting and achieving goals for a power-filled life

Living strong in the Lord  Romans 12:11 Do not slack in your faithfulness and hard work. Let your spirit be on fire, bubbling up and boiling over, as you serve the Lord.  (This is my Scripture for 2015). My main goal in 2015 is to go deeper in my spiritual journey with the Lord. I never want to be satisfied in the place I am unless I am certain that God has put me there. According the Dr. David Jeremiah, most of us think we're too busy and we are. But much of our “busyness” is the result of how we choose to spend our non-working hours. He goes on to say that Christians should step back and take a bigger and longer view of where we are in life. I'm asking myself hard questions. Am I still passionate about kingdom building and am I using that passion as a vibrant witness for Christ? Or do I need to be still and listen for other instructions? Time isn't on our side - Psalm 90:10 a We may journey through life for 70 years; some may live and breathe 80...

Encouraging Scriptures for everyone

During March I posted Scriptures each day honoring my daughter’s birthday. My sole purpose in doing this is to remind her and now you that our every need is answered by God and we see evidence of it in His word, the Bible.   Proverbs 22:6. Thanks to the ministry of  Bible Gateway  for providing online Scripture.   Jude 1:2 The Voice (VOICE) 2  Kindness, peace, love—may they never stop blooming in you and from you. Numbers 6:24-26 Living Bible (TLB) 24-26  ‘May the Lord bless and protect you; may the Lord’s face radiate with joy because of you; may he be gracious to you, show you his favor, and give you his peace.’ Psalm 139:17-18 Living Bible (TLB) 17-18  How precious it is, Lord, to realize that you are thinking about me constantly! I can’t even count how many times a day your thoughts turn toward me. [ a ]   And when I waken in the morning, you are still thinking of me! Exodus 14:14 Living Bible (TLB) ...

There’s no going back - based on Genesis 19:14

Written: March 3, 2013 Genesis 19:14 …one of the messengers gave this instruction: Messenger:   Now run!   Run for your lives! Don’t look back or stop anywhere in the plain. Head for the hills, or you’ll die along with everyone else. Go! Don't look back! There’s no going back. The story of Lot and his wife fascinates because many of us can’t help but continue to remember and stay in pasts that have been forgotten in God’s eyes. God is a place of safety, but our flesh is torn between here and now instead of eternal bliss. Living a life that’s focused on God is such a privilege. What if God let me do life as I preferred on my own terms? ·        What would I be interested in? ·        Who would my friends would be? ·        How I would spend my free time? ·        What I would care about? ·        Who ...

When you can’t understand life, don’t get mad at God – Psalm 119:59

11-11-11 Psalm 119:59 I pondered the direction of my life, and I turned to follow your laws. Today is Veteran’s Day in the United States. We remember, we celebrate and also thank those who are serving or who have served in the military and support organizations. It’s the perfect day to write this note that’s been developing in my spirit. People frequently ask me why I love God and have such a positive outlook. Surely I haven’t experienced tragedies or trials that make me wonder about the faithfulness of God? They think my life is perfect and that God is constantly waving his wand of blessings over me. Some of the questions I’ve been asked include: How can I be sure that God is there? Why is this happening to the one I love? God won’t forgive me for blaming him for whatever tragedy, etc. Why is this tragedy happening to me/to those I love, etc.? I’ve fallen away from God and cannot find the road back to him. God can never forgive me for the bad things I’ve done or th...
