Since the day I saw the hand of God

Until my last earthly breath, I will never stop telling what happened to me on May 2, 2006. That day changed my life and I finally knew what my important mission was. I knew at a very young age that there was something I was going to do, but I had no clue. Acts 16:13   On the Sabbath day, we went outside the city walls to the nearby river, assuming that some Jewish people might be gathering for prayer. We found a group of women there, so we sat down and spoke to them. 14 One of them, Lydia, was a business woman originally from Thyatira. She made a living buying and selling fine purple fabric. She was a true worshiper of God and listened to Paul with special interest. The Lord opened her heart to take in the message with enthusiasm. 15 She and her whole household were ceremonially washed through baptism.[a] On May 2, 2006 I saw the hand of God and it changed my entire life. Ask my friends and family. Ask my daughter – she can tell you how I really was! I am a sinner t...

Want an answer? Ask God first. James 1:5

James 1:5 If you need wisdom – if you want to know what God wants you to do - ask him, and he will gladly tell you. He will not resent your asking.   Don’t wait! Buy it now! Grab the gusto before it goes! You’re only young once! Go for it! No one will know! Call that guy or girl! Blurt out your inner most thoughts! Let it all hang out! Buy that car…and on and on…   I’ve jumped into quicksand so many times because I didn’t wait for God or because I didn’t ask God what road I should have taken. Things can turn out differently if we stop and ask for God’s wisdom and then follow through. If we’re going to ask for God’s wisdom, then we must be willing to obey…   The key message is this:  Talk to God when things are going well for you. Pray before you are shaken up. And, you will be shaken up at some point.  Ask God to give you revelation and discipline in the areas where you are tempted. We’re usually tempted in the areas where we are weak by our...

How’s your cup?

Psalm 103:3 He fills my life with good things! My youth is renewed. TLB Just like old coffee that turns musty and leaves unsightly rings in a coffee cup, so can our relationship with the Lord become old and crusty if we don’t take care of the relationship. I've been thinking about my stages of faith.  When you first receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, well, the high can make you fly!  There’s no drug that can transform your life like the power of Jesus Christ! I had insatiable thirst for knowledge. I got out of my comfort zone in big ways and started doing all kinds of “ministries” until the LORD said, “ Stop .” I heard that stop in a big way. I had to stop doing the things I thought He wanted me to do and start doing things for and with Him. There’s a huge difference in serving God versus serving for God. In my enthusiasm, I got tangled up in things that were good and great for the Kingdom – but they weren’t in God’s plan for me. I stopped “cleaning” ...

Is anything worth more than your soul? Mark 8:37

Mark 8:37 Is anything worth more than your soul? As the world crumbles before our eyes, I feel disbelief and sadness. I grew up knowing right from wrong.   I’m not saying that I grew up in the perfect family – indeed – we were far from perfect. But I recall the LORD and the family instilling in us a deep sense of what was right and wrong. My maternal grandmother ultimately turned our lives over to God. But I drifted into sin and acceptance of the status quo even though I had an outwardly very successful looking life. I remember those dark times of sin when my soul was troubled and devastated because I knew better…but sin blinded me with instant gratification in so many areas. Occasionally I’d wonder where God was because the hole in my heart was so deep. I didn’t want to sin, but it was easy, enjoyable and everyone was doing it.     After many years of living in sin’s desperate grip, I found peace, joy and freedom in being loved and accepted by Jesus Chri...

Reflecting on another year in my walk with the Lord - Isaiah 46:4

Me. Today. Isaiah 46:4 (NLT) I will be your God throughout your lifetime— until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.   Today I’m celebrating with the Lord that I am a year older! What an honor it is to wake up with a mission each day! As I thought and prayed about what I would write today, the Lord reminded me of my growth over the last year, which I’ll share… · I may not understand God’s timing and reasons, but I can have peace.   · While I don’t have to understand God's reasons, I can ask questions. · As I go deeper with God through spending time in His presence, reading the Bible and learning about His heart, I gain understanding. · I will reap the consequences of doing things my way…no fun.   · I don’t have to go along with popular culture, but I do have to love those who choose life’s tough...

I am thankful for times of quiet waiting. - Psalm 62:1

Psalm 62:1 I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. There’s nothing harder for a creative person than to be quiet and not say, suggest or do things that are better left unsaid or undone. It’s hard for me not to want to race ahead and implement my own ideas rather than waiting for God’s word. Quiet waiting is an improvement opportunity for me. Some decisions need to be left quietly to God. It saves us anguish, second-guessing and turmoil. If you like to claim victory, step back. Do you really want the victory for yourself or do you want God to give you victory? Wait quietly for God.
