My ministry is all about sharing my experiences and what works for me, so you can be encouraged. These tips help maintain my JOY through the wilderness: 1. I confess my weaknesses and I ask for forgiveness. This one is hard because you have to say these things out loud and talk it over with the Holy Spirit. 2. I also confess my weaknesses to my accountability partner. When you don’t confess to a trusted Christian friend, the enemy can put guilt trips all over your mind! 3. I fight the enemy by confessing out loud, “May the blood of Jesus Christ repel and rebuke the enemy!” I learned this from my grandmother. 4. I don’t blame the enemy for everything because most of the time I get in my own way. I have to be brutally honest with myself and the Holy Spirit, so I can do effective ministry. This is an ongoing growth area for me. 5. The most important thing is to keep an open dialogue with the Holy Spirit – I talk out loud – I praise out loud – I confess out loud! 6. I realize th...

April 15, 2012 Psalm 121:8 The LORD keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever. Cars and pedestrians sometimes just don’t mix. I live and work in a large city, so I share my life with cars, trucks, buses and an assortment of other vehicles.   I cross very busy streets on foot each day without giving it a thought. Most of us who live in large, heavily congested cities never think about all that traffic, it goes with big city life which I enjoy and would never trade. J The sound of screeching tires about two feet from me recently got me to thinking: I could have been hit by a car…my life could have been over!   I had just stepped onto the pavement after crossing a major street when a car came barreling out of nowhere, and made a screeching halt just under the red light signal. Daniel 3:14 The king said to them, "Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, is what I heard about you true? Don't you serve my gods? Don't you worship the gold statue I set up? 16 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to the king. They said, "King Nebuchadnezzar, we don't need to talk about this anymore…” I’m sharing a nugget that’s been in my heart in order to encourage you. This word came to me during a Beth Moore Bible study on the Book of Daniel. Daniel had initially influenced the king to promote his tres amigos . In this chapter, we learn that the three friends are threatened with death because they don’t worship the king. Daniel wasn’t around to plead their case or help them this time. They had to step up on their own and take a stand. I’ve been on both sides of the aisle – I’ve watched church from afar and criticized it - and I’ve also been a part of the church circle.
