Sin is sin is sin - Galatians 5:1

July 13, 2011
Galatians 5:1 (GW) Christ has freed us so that we may enjoy the benefits of freedom. Therefore, be firm {in this freedom}, and don't become slaves again.
It’s easy to let the enemy of our soul keep us in bondage to our sinful ways. Many times I find myself saying that I can’t blame everything on the enemy, but some things I can. Many preachers and teachers don’t talk about “sin” because it’s not politically correct to offend people with the topic.
Sin is sin is sin. Sin keeps us bound tightly and unable to live the life that Christ planned for us. It’s like living in the basement because you refuse to climb the stairs to freedom. Once you tell Jesus, “Yes, I want your powerful life,” don’t stop! Your trip of a lifetime has officially begun!  You want to move into the next stage in your relationship with God.
If you find yourself unable to break free from the chain around your neck, go get help! Talk to a trusted pastor, counselor or spiritually mature person who can help you be accountable.
God knows anyway.

Scriptures for life

Compiled December 2011
These are a few of my favorite Scriptures. I cannot live my life without God and his word. I keep a 3x5 wire bound note diary of verses that pop off the pages of my Bibles. This helps me in case I need to comfort someone with a specific verse. Start your own collection!

Comfort

Psalm 119:76 Comfort me with your love, as you promised me, your servant.
Job 4:4 Your words have comforted those who fell, and you have strengthened those who could not stand.
Strength

Psalm 18:1 I love you, LORD. You give me strength.
Psalm 29:11 The Lord gives his people strength. The Lord blesses them with peace.
Psalm 118:14 The Lord gives me strength and a song. He has saved me.
Isaiah 40:29 The LORD gives strength to those who are weary.
Deuteronomy 33:27 The eternal God is your shelter, and his everlasting arms support you.
1 Corinthians 15:58 … don’t let anyone move you off the foundation of your faith.
Psalm 31:24 Be strong, all who wait with hope for the LORD, and let your heart be courag…

Houston - we have a problem
I confess that before the 2016 presidential election, I wasn’t interested or concerned about participating in government or politics.
That changed on Nov. 8, 2016.
It’s now painfully clear how important it is to know what our elected politicians are doing on local, state and national levels. It’s time to shake ourselves out of complacency. We must be involved in directing our basic American rights, our policing, our healthcare, our financial lives and more. Our families depend on us.
The best way to do this is to get to know your elected officials and to vote.
Consider running for office or supporting someone you think has the gifts to be a politician. Our families are in crisis, our healthcare is in crisis, immigrant families are in danger and law enforcement may not be serving the interests of people of color   We need people who serve the interests of the majority of our communities
These are my recommendations: Get together with your family, friends and…
