Nothing is forever - Hebrews 13:

March 6, 2013
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

I’m feeling nostalgic today after making one last trek to the department store of my childhood. Our downtown Macy’s, formerly Foley’s, is set to close this weekend. The store holds treasured memories of family and friends who joined me on many shopping journeys.

My brother and I rode downtown on many a Saturday with our grandparents. The guys would drop us off at Foley’s for what seemed like hours. My grandmother would inspect all the merchandise and buy clothes for me. I remember wearing many fashions I didn't like just to please her.

My best friend who passed away many years ago was another shopping companion. We’d buy elephant pants and other "hip" 70s clothing at Foley's. Mostly, we loved riding the escalators and looking at makeup. Later when the name changed, I shopped at Macy’s with my daughter, friends and colleagues for many years.

The memories will always be with me. Change happens. People, places and things evaporate from our lives. But one constant remains:

God’s love.

Houston - we have a problem
I confess that before the 2016 presidential election, I wasn’t interested or concerned about participating in government or politics.
That changed on Nov. 8, 2016.
It’s now painfully clear how important it is to know what our elected politicians are doing on local, state and national levels. It’s time to shake ourselves out of complacency. We must be involved in directing our basic American rights, our policing, our healthcare, our financial lives and more. Our families depend on us.
The best way to do this is to get to know your elected officials and to vote.
Consider running for office or supporting someone you think has the gifts to be a politician. Our families are in crisis, our healthcare is in crisis, immigrant families are in danger and law enforcement may not be serving the interests of people of color   We need people who serve the interests of the majority of our communities
These are my recommendations: Get together with your family, friends and…

America will never be normal

Nothing stops real love!

Romans 8:38-39 For I have every confidence that nothing—not death, life, heavenly messengers, dark spirits, the present, the future, spiritual powers, height, depth, nor any created thing—can come between us and the love of God revealed in the Anointed, Jesus our Lord.

Feelings can lead us down torturous paths. Next time you face a daunting crisis whether it's in your mind or real --stop.
Remember that nothing stops the love of Jesus.
It's yours free!
There's nothing you did to earn it! And it will not be withdrawn from you!
 It's called GRACE!

"We may feel at times that God has departed us from us, but that is when we have to believe his Word rather than our feelings." ~ RC Sproul
