My Divine Devotions: God always makes a way

December 29, 2010
1 Kings 11:10-15 (NIV) 10 Although he had forbidden Solomon to follow other gods, Solomon did not keep the LORD’s command. 11 So the LORD said to Solomon, “Since this is your attitude and you have not kept my covenant and my decrees, which I commanded you, I will most certainly tear the kingdom away from you and give it to one of your subordinates. 12 Nevertheless, for the sake of David your father, I will not do it during your lifetime. I will tear it out of the hand of your son. 13 Yet I will not tear the whole kingdom from him, but will give him one tribe for the sake of David my servant and for the sake of Jerusalem, which I have chosen.”

God stands by his word and always makes a way for us to get out of the situations we create as a result of our disobedience. Parents understand how difficult it is to discipline a child--yet the result of discipline is personal excellence.

God’s tenderness is revealed in his love for David and Israel. David was an imperfect man after God’s heart and God honored his faithfulness by having mercy on Solomon. God is waiting to reveal his tenderness to his children.

What a beautiful season to remember God’s tenderness, his mercy and his love for us. Our God is a powerful, personal God who doesn’t forget those who love him.

How to stay young and youthful all your life

How to stay young and youthful all your life Word of Instruction from Dr. Charles F. Stanley These are my notes from today's broadcast.
Scripture: Psalm 92:12-15
Psalm 92:
12 Good people will prosper
    like palm trees,
    and they will grow strong
    like the cedars of Lebanon.
13 They will take root
in your house, LORD God,
    and they will do well.
14 They will be like trees
that stay healthy and fruitful,
    even when they are old.
15 And they will say about you,
“The LORD always does right! God is our mighty rock.”

Human life no longer matters

I'm deeply troubled and you should be, too.

The sanctity of human life no longer matters. I'm outraged at the killing of yet another black man - two in one day - by police in this country. This is terrorism aimed at people of color. It is NOT acceptable - we are ALL created in God's image.
Christians can't be quiet - no matter your color.
Philando Castille was shot and killed by police as he reached for his license while his girlfriend and child watched. The video making the rounds should make you cry - it could be your husband, son or brother!!

Stop and pray for his family and friends. Pray for Alton Sterling's family. Mr. Sterling was killed by police earlier in the day in Baton Rouge.
This madness must stop. This is NOT okay.
Genesis 1:27 So God did just that. He created humanity in His image, created them male and female.
